She was born in Galveston, TX on October 11, 1957 to Arcadio and Consuelo Chapa. She was married to Curtis Russell for 13 years.
She was a member of the Space City Corvette Club, where she served as Secretary and Street Meet Coordinator. She and Curtis took C8 factory delivery of their Corvette and were Spire Donors to the National Corvette Museum and generous contributors to many local causes. They are current custodians of the Ambassador Cup, a club recognition for community service.
Janie, a dedicated paralegal and legal secretary, was a member of Bay Area Welcome Neighbors, Brunch Bunch, and Time Out Tuesdays. She had a deep passion for politics and parties, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, who meant the world to her.
She was preceded in death by her mother Consuelo Chapa, father Arcadio Chapa, grandson Ivan Perez, and brother Freddy Chapa.
She is survived by her husband Curtis, daughters Ashlea and Kristen, grandchildren Hector, Trae, Io, Leo, and Galaxy, brother Art, and her two pups Poochie and Suki.
We invite you to join us in remembering Janie at the visitation, which will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598. The funeral service, a time to honor and celebrate her life, will follow from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598. We will then proceed to the graveside service, a final farewell, from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598.
